Objective:
To foster a love for reading through weekly discussions with peers. You will read your chosen book outside of class time and gather weekly to discuss it using the provided Tic-Tac-Toe activities.

Use an extra note book, or you can staple a few sheets together to create a packet. You can simply write the questions on a paper, then answer on that page.
How Book Clubs Work:
-
Choose Your Book
- Select a book that you are interested in reading. Make sure it is appropriate for your reading level and something that excites you.
- Once you have chosen your book, fill in the title and chapters/pages section on the Tic-Tac-Toe grid for the week.
-
Form Your Book Club:
- Find classmates who are interested in forming a book club. Your group can have 2-4 members total.
- Decide on a regular time (or times) throughout the week when you all expect to have extra time in class.
-
Weekly Reading and Tic-Tac-Toe Activity:
- Each week, read the assigned (you’ll need to assign pages to read yourselves) chapters/pages outside of class.
- Complete at least three activites from the Tic-Tac-Toe grid for that week, in a pattern that draws a straight line through the grid (like you won the game).
- Try to pick different squares/lines each week to cover a variety of discussion points.
-
Discussion Meetings:
- When your book club meets, each member should share their completed Tic-Tac-Toe activity.
- Use your activity as a starting point for discussion. Listen to your peers, ask questions, and share your thoughts.
-
Rotate Responsibilities:
- Take turns each week with different roles in your book club:
- Facilitator: Guides the conversation and ensures everyone has a chance to share.
- Time Keeper: Keeps track of time to ensure everyone has a chance to contribute.
- Recorder: Jots down key points from the discussion to share later with the teacher.
- Materials: Keeps the discussion notes organized.
-
Wrap-Up:
- After your weekly discussion, spend a few minutes reflecting on what you learned or enjoyed about the book and discussion.
- Prepare for the next week’s reading and Tic-Tac-Toe activity.
-
End of Book Reflection:
- Create a Book Club One Pager!

Tips for Success:
- Be respectful of each other's opinions during discussions.
- Make sure you complete your reading and activity before the meeting.
- Stay open-minded and consider others' perspectives on the book.
This format will help you engage deeply with the book while having fun discussing it with your classmates!
